ABOUT US

IT ALL BEGAN ON
APRIL 5, 1895
AT THE UNIVERSITY OF ARKANSAS...

when four women, with the help of a local dentist, established the secrets and symbolism creating the Chi Omega sisterhood. In the last 125 years, Chi Omega has become the largest women's fraternal organization in the world with over 408,000 initiates, 182 collegiate chapters, and 246 alumnae chapters.

The idea of bringing a Chi Omega chapter to Texas A&M University began in March 1975 when founding advisor, Mary Evelyn White, an initiate of the Iota Chapter, leaned over to a dear friend, Mary Anne Culpepper, while standing in a buffet line and said, “What do you think about starting a Chi Omega chapter?”. With Mary Evelyn, and many other devoted women, Xi Kappa began, just a short 12 years after the admission of women into Texas A&M University, and the Chi Omega House that sits on 1501 Athens today was the first sorority house built on the row in 1976. Thanks to our high standards of personnel, participation in campus activities, dedication to community service, and love for our sisters, we grew from just 16 charter members in 1975, to an incredible membership of over 300 young women today.

Since the formation of our chapter, Texas A&M Chi Omega has provided its members with the unique opportunity to foster leadership, scholarship, selfless service, and lifelong friendship, all in one place.
